New clinical guidelines were recently published for the diagnosis and management of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis (CPA). The guidelines were published on behalf of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) and the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM). Azole resistance may be encountered in CPA-patients especially when Aspergillus is cultured from respiratory samples during antifungal therapy.
